IMPROVING FOOD SECURITY LINKED TO ECONOMIC STABILITY

A recent study of families who have moved from food insecurity to food security found they were more likely to report being able to afford a stable home (65%), home energy (57%), and prescription medicine (58%), and medical care (44%) than those who were persistently food insecure. Simply put, reducing food insecurity is associated with the ability to afford other basic necessities without sacrificing stable housing, access to energy, and needed medical care.
